The 24-105mm focal length range almost seems to be the default for Canon standard zoom lenses and there are already two in the RF system, the RF 24-105mm f/4 L IS USM and the entry-level 24-105mm
Together with IBIS it allows to shoot 1/4th of a second at 105mm with quite consistently sharp results. - RF has way faster AF. - both IS and AF are much quieter with RF. - EF feels more rigid thanks to its metal body. - EF suffers from the barrel wobble at 24mm. No impact on IQ, it is just the feel.

I bought an R with the RF 24-105 L about 3 years ago, and I added the 24-105 RF STM a year ago for ease of carrying. The RF L lens is clearly the best, as it should be, given the price. But there's very little in it between the STM and the EF L - optical performance is remarkably similar - weakest at 24mm, otherwise pretty decent.
Having f/2.8 in stead of f/4.0 at typical portrait focal lengths is huge. It is, and having 105mm instead of 70mm is also a godsend - at least for my needs. If I had the 24-70/2.8 + 70-200/2.8 combo I would indeed still plan on upgrading to the 24-105/2.8 even though there would be overlap, as it would still save on lens changes and/or body swaps.
The 14-35mm f/4L is a surprisingly compact and lightweight lens, being even lighter and smaller than the already fairly compact RF 24-105mm f/4L. It has a standard front element that takes front-mounting 77mm filters, and it sacrifices nothing on the long end of the zoom range, going all the way from 14mm ultra-wide angle to 35mm.

With a length of 88.8mm and a weight of just 395g, the RF 24-105mm F4-7.1 IS STM is much easier to handle and carry around than usual for a 24-105mm lens. In comparison, the F4 L version is 107mm long and weighs 700g. Full frame 24-105mm lenses are typically large and bulky, and the RF 24-105mm F4-7.1 IS STM is a smaller and lighter alternative.
